Corran Rèile – Planning Application Update

We would like to update the community on the progress of our Corran Réile affordable housing development, proposed for the former slaughterhouse site in Aberfeldy.

Following discussions between our project architects and the planning team at Perth & Kinross Council, a number of amendments have been made to the proposed plans. The planning team have decided that due to these changes, the application should be reopened for public consultation.

These are the amendments that have led to the application being reopened:

  • Revised house layout: The houses have been reorientated to face towards the internal road and parking area, with private gardens behind them, creating a more conventional street frontage.
  • Road and parking improvements: The internal road and parking arrangements have been revised following comments from the Council’s Transport team. Additional parking has been incorporated, including parking within Plot 4 and two visitor spaces alongside a passing place near the turning head.
  • House design: One of the proposed house types has been changed to better suit the revised plot layout.
  • Drainage: Further details have been provided on drainage and sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).
  • Landscaping and boundaries: Additional fencing and hedgerow planting have been introduced to create clearer boundaries between private gardens and shared spaces.
  • Ecology and trees: Additional arboricultural and ecological information has been submitted to support the Council’s assessment of the development’s impact on existing trees, vegetation and habitats.

Why has the application reopened for consultation?

As a result of these amendments, Perth & Kinross Council has reopened the planning application for a further period of public consultation. This allows residents and other interested parties to review the updated proposals and submit comments before a planning decision is made.

Corran Réile forms part of ADT’s wider commitment to addressing the shortage of affordable homes for local people, a key priority identified through the Community Action Plan 2025–2030.

We recognise that new developments can raise questions and concerns, particularly for neighbouring residents, and we remain committed to working constructively with the Council, our project partners and the community as the application progresses.

We have prepared a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document explaining the background to Corran Réile, why ADT is progressing the development, and how it supports the priorities identified by our community.

The revised plans and supporting documents can be viewed on the Perth & Kinross Council planning portal, where comments can also be submitted during the consultation period.

We would encourage all those who support the development and understand the need for more affordable homes in our community to support this application.
