Community Futures Event Success

Residents of Aberfeldy, Dull and Weem turned out enthusiastically on Saturday 26th October to attend
their Community Futures Event.

Over 220 people of all ages came along to the Aberfeldy Town Hall to see the results of the recent Community Survey, which had 560 responses, and to vote for their priority projects and actions.

As well as the feedback from the Survey, and the voting, there was also a range of displays from many local community organisations, including Aberfeldy Development Trust, Tay Valley Connections, Warm Connections, Upper Tay Paths, Friends of Wades Bridge, the Rotary Club, Aberfeldy Scouts and many, many more. Entertainment was provided by local talent, and the Warm Welcome café provided a wonderful spread of cakes and constant supply of teas and coffees. Children were involved in a creative and fun activity provided by Michelle Etherington.
Over 1300 sticky dots were used to vote for the top priorities of those who attended –across a wide variety of topics including “Affordable homes”, “Improved bus service”, “More paths and cycleways”, “Better parking & road safety”…. to mention just a few!

The displays and opportunity to add your votes will be in the Library at the Breadalbane Campus until 5th November, and an online option is also available at https://us9.list-manage.com/survey?u=5401bd4a9da460ab7ef72859d&id=2ac6e7f532&attribution=false

All the community engagement that has taken place will be used to prepare a 5 year Community Action Plan setting out our priorities and how we will take action as a community and in partnership with others. To get involved, or to find out more, please contact Aberfeldy Development Trust.

Thanks to the amazing group of volunteers who worked so hard to make this process such a success. STAR Development Group have provided expertise in community action planning, guidance and support, and funding is provided by Perth & Kinross Council through the CLLD programme.
