Aberfeldy Development Trust has been approached to support and explore the formation of a Friends of Wade’s Bridge group. The main purpose of a Friends group would be to support a detailed conservation management plan involving key stakeholders.
A report on the current condition of the bridge is now available to view:
Simpson Brown Report on Wade’s Bridge
The advice from the report is that a fully funded conservation management plan is needed to ensure the longevity of the Bridge. With it’s tercentary in 2033, there is no time like the present to protect this historic bridge, which has continued to act as vital local infrastructure since it was built in 1733.
We would like to invite you to a meeting at 7pm on Wednesday 27th September at the Lesser Town Hall, Aberfeldy. At the meeting you’ll be able to find out more about the current condition of the bridge, what is needed to preserve it and what might be involved in creating a Friends group to take this forward.
If you would like to attend the meeting, or register your interest in the Friends of Wade’s Bridge project, please email aberfeldydevelopmenttrust@gmail.com by 15th September.
If you are unable to make the meeting, please email us to let us know what you think- we’re keen to gauge community support for the project.
We look forward to hearing from you.
